Elizabeth Devine, M.Ed., NCC, LPC
Education and Experience:
*Master of Education degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Interdisciplinary Counseling with a minor in Spanish.
*Licensed Professional Counselor
*National Certified Counselor
*Certified Pet-Assisted Therapy Handler with Dog Gracie through the Delta Society.
*In addition to private practice, currently serve as Clinical Coordinator for an agency that provides therapeutic groups for children and caregivers who have been affected by a loved one’s addiction to drugs or alcohol.
*Formerly a counselor with both women and children victims of domestic violence. Also worked with both male and female perpetrators of family violence as a Battering Intervention and Prevention group facilitator. In this role, Ms. Devine facilitated groups of up to 15 participants teaching and discussing non-violence in intimate relationships. Ms. Devine also created and implemented curriculum specifically for use with the women who used violence against their partners.
*Graduate studies placed emphasis on play therapy, with extensive experience in a variety of childhood and parenting issues.
*Provided services to families and children currently involved in the foster system or adoption process. Most children in this arena are suffering with the effects of abuse and/or neglect.
* Formerly worked in a role providing education and resources regarding eating disorders and body image issues.
*Speak at numerous conferences to mental health professionals on issues related to codependency, addictions and intimate partner violence.
